In my earlier days as a stay-at-home mom, after my husband left for work and the kids were dropped off at school, I was home by myself. That’s it. There were no computers. There was no internet. We did have a TV. I’m not that old. 🤨 During those years, I went through every craft and hobby idea possible. Yawn. I’ve never been a big TV connoisseur. But, I did look forward to watching reruns of “I Love Lucy.” Yes, reruns, I’m much too young to have seen the original series. 🙂
Lucy was resilient, creative, fearless, beautiful, strong . . . the list goes on. No matter what anyone or anything said or did to her within the context of the show, she kept going. She was my inspiration to seek out something more for myself besides being Mrs. Kulish, wife and mother. Not that it wasn’t an honor to be in those roles. Being a wife and mother is both hard work and rewarding. But maybe I didn’t do it right. You know, invest myself completely into those responsibilities. Because, I wasn’t fulfilled. I needed to find something to do with my ability to create. Watching “I Love Lucy” made me realize that I needed to do more with my life. Persistence and determination were the messages I received from her show.
And, there’s another woman who inspired me to go after what I want. My mother, Vivian, who did heavily invest herself into the roles of wife and mother. Although not a movie star to others (in my eyes you were, mom), you’re my Lucy. I love Vivian! ❤️
